The product is great, the customers will love it, it will be a killer in the market. But you can’t help worrying about the computer systems which support your bold new endeavor. Will they fail at the wrong time? Will they provide the customer experience we need? Will the IT department be able to support my new business? So you delay the launch, and your competitors get there before you.

It's the little things you notice. Your outsourcing company starts off the relationship strong and they tell you what you want to know and always answer your calls. Then one day you find that your dedicated resource has been servicing another account. Your projects are delayed and there are always these strange items in the account that you weren't expecting. Maybe this relationship wasn't meant to be.

You have been around long enough to know your programmers don’t test to find problems. Programmers test to prove their stuff works. You have also been bitten by the problems this causes. Systems that work in the lab fail in front of a customer. You lose business, you lose customers, you lose confidence. Why don’t your programmers test till the system breaks? Why can't they find every problem, before it becomes your problem? Wouldn’t it be better if your systems were tested to destruction before being released in the real world?
